The end of paper till receipts: how to adapt
From August 1, 2023, till receipts will no longer be printed automatically, marking the beginning of the gradual disappearance of these documents. Four categories of ticket are affected by this new regulation:
- Tickets issued in sales areas and places accessible to the public.
- Tickets generated by vending machines.
- Receipts for credit card transactions.
- Vouchers, promotional tickets and discount coupons.
These tickets are now dematerialized. Customers can access their receipts as PDF files via the brand s application, by SMS or by e-mail. However, communicating one s phone number to all the retailers we shop at can be risky. Spam filters could prevent certain receipts from being received, while unwanted SMS or e-mail messages could multiply. As a result, manual entry of receipt information could take longer and involve more risk.
Nevertheless, these new regulations don t mean you can no longer manage your spending. You can adopt some simple new habits:
- You can create a folder dedicated to grouping all your dematerialized tickets. You ll need to keep it up-to-date and organized. You can create different folders divided by month (September 2023, October 2023...), each containing different categories of expenditure (food, home, leisure...) or the name of your stores (Leclerc, Castorama...).
- You can always register your expenses in your bank s customer area for real-time tracking (or with a 2-3 day delay). Some banks even offer special tools for categorizing your expenses.
- If you prefer to pay in cash, you have the option of noting down the amounts of your purchases in an app or notebook, allowing you to take stock at the end of the day, week or month.
